A summer afternoon on London’s canals. Flights of fancy; imagining a life on a canal boat. It is peaceful, in this brick valley in the heart of the city. I imagine a time long ago, a time of steam and acrid smoke. That is long gone, replaced with smart new buildings. Yet traces remain, red brick, baked pink, trees growing from cracks. A tow path that tinkles with cyclists. Water that is still. The boats seem timeless, homes on water, elegant and angular, painted red with portholes and tiny gardens on the roof. I linger a while. Fleeting longing before leaving the valley of bricks and canals. This colorful work is on a canvas board, perfect for framing. A lovely souvenir of London.
