A View of Granton Lighthouse

On Edinburgh’s coast, a quiet place of mystery, where seagulls screech in a secret language; and the wind whistles, its breath of brine and spice from distant lands. A place that feels forgotten at times, ideal for wandering. I pass a lighthouse, built of dark red brick, at odds with the city’s usual stone. I imagine a stormy night, rain lashing the glass, beams of powerful, life saving light. But today, the sky is blue, the air warm and filled with the gentle warmth of a Scottish summer. The canvas is 0.4 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished. A perfect gift or souvenir of Scotland.
