Gothic Corner, Amsterdam (2018)

I loved the architecture of this street corner in Amsterdam. I have been working on a series of summery works of the city and this is the latest. A summer of heat and intense light, of memories rekindled and exploring, of belonging. Amsterdam is a magical city, a place I have grown up with, dreamed of. It is not just a place, it is a concept. This work depicts a typically Dutch building alongside a more Gothic one, from the 19th century. It is rich in detail, realism and light.
