The Bee Lady of Hull

Her name is Jean Bishop. She is 95 this year. She dresses up as a bee and collects money for Age UK Hull. She is indefatigable, dedicated, driven and sweet. She radiates goodness and kindness. As a little tribute, and to hone my own portraiture skills, I decided to paint her. The proceeds of the painting are to go to Age UK who will auction it at her birthday celebration and fundraiser on 12 May at Hull’s Guildhall. I am excited as I have never been beyond the front door, and it promises to be quite an event. The aim is to raise £95,000 to celebrate her birthday and hopefully my painting will make a little splash in there somewhere.
