Edinburgh, strange and wonderful city of my ancestors, a city of contrasts, Burke and Hare, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Old Town and New. A city I have known all my life, but which still surprises me. On a long walk I discovered this old shop, faded signage, ancient display. Solid. Scottish. Going nowhere anytime soon with stubborn belonging. A short distance away is the wonderful Scottish parliament, and in the other direction the Grassmarket, grisly place of hangings in times gone by.
